Resistance 3 (PS3) Is Finished

Resistance series, in which Resistance 3 belongs to, is a science fiction slash fantasy themed first person shooter game that was popular in the dominant era of PS3. The games in the series are PlayStation exclusives and you can play them on PS3 consoles. I have some experience about Resistance – The Fall of Man. I actually bought the game already some time ago. I really didn’t get into it. I didn’t somehow like it. It was too different from the experience provided by Call of Duty. I like CoD games very much.

I got interested again in the series after I found a book related to the video game series from flee market. The price of the book was 2 euros and I recently read it completely. I had some curiosity against the Resistance series and decided to try the third game which is actually Resistance 3 the game that we are dealing with in this blog post.

So, how is Resistance 3 as a video game? The controls take a bit of time to get adjusted to since they differ from CoD and Halo a bit. After you get the basics which means in this case the slight zoom, which button does fire your weapon and how different weapons work, where to throw a grenade and everything else related to basic gameplay of Resistance 3, you really get to enjoy the game very much.

I assume that the budget of Resistance 3 was a bit bigger than the first games’ budget. This shows as better graphical output. Also the cover seems to me somewhat more pleasant. The game uses horror and science fiction elements and reminds me at times of games like FEAR 2 and 3 and also the already mentioned Halo series. There are several different weapons available. The number of weapons increases as you progress deeper in to the game.

There are some strategic considerations that have to be discussed here. There are lots of enemies and sometimes it is better to try to progress with not taking out every single one of them and instead try to progress to the next checkpoint so you get through and actually move forward. I have only so little to say about the plot. The main character is the hero of the game and is making his way to New York as the evil alien “Chimera” is trying to conquer the planet Earth. There are different types of enemies from huge monsters to regular alien soldiers. You even get a chance to fight these enemies with a melee weapon (it’s a huge sledge hammer). There is also a strange weapon that I did use in the game that was called “mutator”.

I really enjoyed this game. Graphics are somewhat awful if you compare them directly with the display of graphics in some modern games but this is still a good game to play if you just consider it as a bit older game that actually does count as a retro game already in 2025. If you can handle PS3 games’ graphical poverty you can definitely play and also enjoy this game. Resistance 3 offers a nice about 8 hours of time of a playthrough. I think I used something like that while I played the single player campaign with “Casual” as the difficulty setting. You can of course play the game again with increased difficulty level if you wish to play the game through again in this way.

I really don’t have anything to say about multiplayer experience since I mainly play all my games as single player. I didn’t even bother to try the functionality of this game in this way. I don’t know if the server are still up. I think assume they might not be. Resistance 3 was published in 2011 for PS3 as an exclusive game. It might be nice to see a remake of some sort some day. The game is very good and it was the first Resistance game that I played and also finished.

I just yesterday finished purchasing and also installing the new Silent Hill f game that actually was officially released yesterday. I was positively surprised that it is now easier to pay your purchase in Steam app. It is possible now to use Trustly and functions of your own web bank. This makes acquiring money to Steam wallet easier for me. I am waiting for the weekend so I can sunk my teeth in Silent Hill f. I have now a new Windows 11 PC that I am going to play it on. The Xbox Series X version of the game was 10 euros cheaper but I prefer more power in the graphical end. So, I chose to get the PC version. Have a nice weekend, everyone!

V-Rally 4

I just started playing V-Rally 4. I got it for a cheap price of three euros. This was a digital purchase through Steam store. I made the purchase a bit over two weeks ago. Seems to me that I was very lucky because I just checked and the price for V-Rally 4 is now 30 euros on Steam. I am playing this game with my brand new Windows 11 desktop computer. I also have a 4K display. So, the graphics of this rally game look really nice.

This is the latest game in V-Rally series. The game was first released in 2018. This means that it isn’t the newest rally game available. It also although indicates that any patches that would fix any gameplay or performance issues have been probably very much solved. I have to admit that I am only in the beginning with V-Rally 4. I have played it for only about half an hour. I do find it a pleasant video game about rally racing.

Some earlier releases in the series that V-Rally 4 belongs to can be detailed as retro games. I think first two games were released already on the first PlayStation 1. I somewhat  remember trying to play V-Rally 3. This game, I think, was current in the era of PS2. After a quick fact check through a search engine I found the information. The third V-Rally game was actually released in 2002 for PS2, Xbox, GameCube and Windows (PC). So, there seems to be a gap of sixteen years between V-Rally 4 and the previous game in the series that is V-Rally 3.

I don’t have a clear memory of playing any V-Rally game on a PS1. I am quite sure that I did never own a copy of V-Rally one or two. I might have played V-Rally 3 for a while but I don’t remember that also so clearly. I do remember games that belong to Colin McRae Rally series. I also recall clear memories of the WRC rally game series. Also, I have to mention a very good, but a bit old, rally game series that was released in the 2000s for original Xbox. This series is Rallisport Challenge one and two. Especially the sequel is a very good game. When it comes to conversation about the best rally games of all time you have to mention also Richard Burns Rally every time.

So, I am yet to experience probably a good rally game. V-Rally 4 is promised to have content for a decent 21 hours. This information can be found from the “How Long To Beat” website. This website and also a database can be utilized or at least I use it to determine a duration for any game be it retro or new. V-Rally 4 provides racing but also some strategic decision making. You have to have a complete team and you are managing a budget. You have to have a manager, a technician and an engineer or possibly several. The career journey begins with a moderate vehicle. You have to make smart decisions all the from the beginning to the end.

I am expecting V-Rally 4 to be at least an entertaining experience. I hope it has enough challenge to keep me interested in the game all the way to the finish. It seems to me that you have to keep your eyes open when it comes to Steam. They actually have an autumn sale coming very soon. After another fact check I can confirm that there is a sale on Steam from 29th of September to 6th of October. Besides all the games that are going to be on sale I am also very much waiting for Silent Hill f to drop. This game has a price of 80 euros. This is the standard edition and there is also a “Digital Deluxe” edition that costs 90 euros.

What Has Burnout Paradise (Remastered) to Offer?

Burnout Paradise was first released back in 2008 for PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows/PC. This isn’t for me an introduction to this game. I haven’t yet finished it but I do have it for PS3. I also have a digital copy of the remastered version of Burnout Paradise on my Xbox Series X. I decided to purchase this game once more and this time for Nintendo Switch. I am playing this game on my fresh and still shiny Switch 2.

This game is something that I like to play on my Switch 2. The game offers a large open-world area of roads and intersections to explore. The map is large but compared to some newer open-world exploration games it might already seem to be a bit small. The gameplay concentrates on different events and objectives. All in all there is a lot to explore. The game is said to have content for about eleven hours.

While we are talking about Burnout series I have to mention a very good game that also belongs to this series. That game is Burnout  3 – Takedown. That is a very good racing game that was released for PS2 and Xbox in 2004. If you like Burnout Paradise you probably like Takedown too. And you can also say that if you like Takedown you will like Burnout Paradise also.

I purchased a while ago a new game that is optimized for Switch 2 or you could say that it was released as a Switch 2 game. That game is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 + 4. I did play some hours but the gameplay just seemed to build so much around trying to hit a perfect combo of tricks that I decided to have a break in playing the game. There is a lot to explore and you should give some time for the game to also be explored. I also don’t have so much nostalgic feelings on THPS 3 and 4 as I do have against the first two games of the series.

We are still going to have to wait for some new games to be released for Switch 2. The new Donkey Kong game might relieve this matter a bit. Donkey Kong Bananza is already available for Nintendo Switch. Some titles that I am personally waiting to be released are the new Metroid Prime game and Hades 2. The first Hades game was very nice action roleplaying game. I had some fun playing it about a year ago. I played it on my Xbox Series X:

While waiting for some new games you can actually play some a bit older games that were originally released for the first Switch console. Burnout Paradise Remastered can be one such game. Since I already have owned a Nintendo Switch console for several years already I actually own many good games that are backwards compatible with Switch 2. Burnout Paradise Remastered might not be a game that is widely available at least when you are talking about the actual physical copy of the game.

All-in-all I can recommend Burnout Paradise Remastered for someone who likes racing games. I definitely recommend it if you already have some experience about other games in the series. I don’t recommend this game if you totally hate open-world games. The game offers steady and exciting racing and lots of achievements and objectives to get into.

Burnout Paradise might not be as nice as a video game as Burnout Takedown was. I think it takes a steady second place if we compare different games in this whole series. I am definitely going to play it some more while I am waiting for some new Switch 2 games to be released,

As you can see from this picture there is a very nice weather here in Finland today. I really appreciate these sunny days. We don’t have these kinds of days all the time in here.
